A Biographical Sketch

Dr. Wah Jun Tze, CM, MD, FRCP(C) President and Founder, Global Child Health Society and Global ChildNet


Dr. Tze is the founder and president of two humanitarian organizations, Canada China Child Health Foundation and Global Child Health Society. He is the Organizing Chair of the Society's Child Health 2000 World Congress and Exposition, held in Vancouver every three years, the publisher and editor of Global Child Health News and Review, an international newspaper, and founder and president of Global ChildNet, a new global electronic information and communication service. The aim of all these activities is to promote the health and well-being of the world's children and youth.

In recognition of his contribution to child health, Dr. Tze was appointed a member of the Order of Canada in 1994, and received the Commemorative Medal awarded to distinguished Canadians to mark the 125th anniversary of Canadian Confederation.

Dr. Tze completed post-graduate study in pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at Children's Hospital Center in Boston, following graduation from Dalhousie University Medical School in Halifax.

Dr. Tze is a professor in the Department of Pediatrics at University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver and heads the newly created International Child Health and Alternative Medicine Program at British Columbia's Children's Hospital. As well, he is a visiting professor at Guangzhou Medical University and Capital Medical University in Beijing, and honourary director at several Chinese children's hospitals. His major research interest has been islet cell transplantation in the field of diabetes, and he is now extending to include alternative and complementary medicine.
